My old mum came round. I made a Ruby and we put some music on. After wrapping up with an encore of Irish rebel songs, she insisted on being taken home so she could 'have a puff' and watch a film about an MI6 agent saving Britain from the outside world (Skyfall).

Happy new year to all of you! Hope it'll be a better one than the last. Yesterday morning the children came and we started the day with a Weißwurst and Weißbier breakfast. Celebrating with only my wife in the evening didn't protect me from drinking as much as usual on celebration days. So a slightly reduced start for me into the new year. Curing my pain with beer.
