Selling on the internet is not what it once was.
Well what a nightmare week. My speakers were more or less sold only for the bidder to back out with 12 hrs to go. Dont know how he managed it and no explanation from Ebay. My amp sold and after over a day the buyer got in touch to say he didn't realise it was a uk only auction and would I post to Hong Kong. The best was A buyer got in touch from one of the Hifi sale sites I advertised on. Turns out he was a scammer wanted to pay only by cheque after getting all my details. He then got in touch to say he had lost his cheque book and could I send him my account number sort code and 3 digit number on the back and he would do an instant transfer. Of course I replied with sure thing acc no. FUCKYOU and sort code is ASSHOLE. Strangely I never heard from him again. I looked up his address that he had given me it turned out to be a house for sale on zoopla.
So back to the drawing board and possibly starting small p20/a20 and some ls3. Maybe I was a bit too enthusiastic trying to flog everything at once and jump straight in at the top end. Probably more fun working my way up to a full system and hearing each improvement as I go.
Anyway Ebay has gone downhill and is full of people who want things for next to nothing ,scammers and general fuckwits.
Rant over. Sorry!

Will the p20/a20 still be an improvement on the Audiolab 8000s. I realise it is 25w compared to 60w but I don't play my music to concert levels anyway.

Could not agree more about eBay going down hill. I have posted about this recently. They allow cowboys to open shops and when someone gets into your account because of their lack of security, they treat you as the criminal. I will never use eBay again to buy anything which is not really cheap, unless it is a seller I have used before and am sure is not a crook.

Re: Selling on the internet is not what it once was.
I've made well over 400 transactions on eBay and have had maybe 3 or 4 real problems. Only one of those problems was not sorted to my satisfaction either by the vendor or eBay. Like most things we only hear about them when they go wrong which can present a somewhat biased overall opinion of any business. I'm not saying eBay is faultless, but it's not all bad either in my book.

When you list an item you can set up preferences to prevent people from outside the UK bidding which avoids problems. Also you can do a listing with immediate payment required which prevents someone stringing you along for days. Offer it to next highest bidder if it is an auction. I have delt with mostly genuine good sellers and buyers on Ebay. The bad ones are a small minority. In 16 years only encountered two or three nasty sellers and not had any problems with buyers. Stick to paypal for payment and any larger delicate hi-fi specify collect only. Make buyer organise transport and take the risk if they insist.

+1 for preferences to block overseas biddersClassicrock wrote:When you list an item you can set up preferences to prevent people from outside the UK bidding which avoids problems. The immediate payment option is worthwhile but can only be specified for Buy-It-Now listings
'Second Chance Offer' to offer auction item to next highest bidder
eBay still a very good option for selling. Chunk has been very unlucky this time...

If I blocked overseas bidders / BIN I would lose over half my sales.
