Re: NVA Phono Stages - rethink
Again the plug change is not for the phono stage it is for the power supply. For example if the P2 is ugraded to the P3 but still uses PSUs then it has XLR plugs. The new plugs are for use with the BBPSU.
From new I can do everything with the new plug, it is just a line plug and socket, but there are so many out there with XLR, I need to make the options clear.

Ok what is cost of conversion of P2 to P3 and adding extra power cable to one of the power supplies (assuming you need 4 connections as I understand it)? Now realise the jump to 2 BBPSUs is rather expensive.

The difference in price from P2 to P3, £300 plus sending and returning costs.

If you want to only use one BBPSU to begin with you have to stay with P2, the change in power supply is a significant upgrade also which is why I gave the two option.

Re: NVA Phono Stages - rethink
Is there much difference in the improvement between P3 (Twin std PS) and going P2 with BBPSU?

Re: NVA Phono Stages - rethink
P3 = clarity and space (information)
BBPSU = size and weight (of music)
Impossible question really even though I have tried to give you an answer, they both produce better more real music. The aim would be to get both. In reality I can't help more than this. You will not be disappointed with either.
EDIT = BBPSU is not a disco type weight, it is greater solidity and stability in instruments. Words are a serious problem in describing this. If and when you get it you will say Ah! now I know what he meant. The prototype created a reaction at Uddersfield of "where has all that bass come from" such a change some people thought it was wrong, and Nick thought I had changed the RIAA. To the extent that to get the benefit there the speaker would have to be moved into more space (a problem with those Yamaha NS1000, I really think they do some things wrong - too hi-fi)

Re: NVA Phono Stages - rethink
Hello Doc, can you tell me the size of the BBPSU (and presumably also the BMU if they use the same box?) please? I need to check under my record/front end equipment shelves to see if it will fit underneath. Do they need much space around/above them for air circulation? Also can you tell me what length the umbilicals are please? Is it possible to specify longer ones if needed?

Re: NVA Phono Stages - rethink
No air space around them required in either BMU or BBPSU.
Cm 35w 30d 15h
As long as you like (within reason) for umbilicals.

Thank you, I now need to measure up but I suspect I'm a few mm short of height.
