Broken speaker connection

Unread post by CN211276 »

One of the plugs connecting LS3 to a Cubette in the second system has snapped with part of it lodged inside the speaker. I am still able to connect it but the situation is anything but ideal. The part stuck inside the speaker has holes which I think the correct tool could get a grip on, enabling me to pull it out. Does anyone know of a suitable tool with a link? It was my intention to upgrade to LS6 this year and this has hastened things. But first I would need to remove the broken part of the plug.

A contributor at PS audio forum had this problem - but with the banana stuck in a luxman amp - the fix that finally worked in the thread below was using a right sized screw -

https://forum.psaudio.com/t/removing-br ... -amp/37574

Good luck

This appears to be the answer. Just a matter of finding the right size screw.

If it's one of our Z plugs, then a small screw is a good way to go.
The plugs are rolled copper with a gold plating which means they're hollow down the middle and if you get a, screw which is a firm fit down the centre, you should be able to turn it in enough to get a grip, and then pull the piece out.

Best of luck.

Have ordered small screws on Ebay as I don't seem to have any.

I should add that a wood screw (coarser thread) might be better than an engineering or electrical screw of the same size, but we're hardly talking NASA specs here - so if it works it works!

The screws took an age to arrive from China and turned out to be too small. I have now ordered wood screws of different sizes and hoping for better luck.

No success with screws, but this did the trick.

The third smallest was a good fit and I could pull out the broken connection with it.
