I'm not surprised at the possible sale. Naim streamers are nothing special. I owned a NDX when it was the top model and a Naim dac plus a Teddy Pardo psu for the dac. This was in my opinion inferior to a squeezebox touch, Teddy Pardo Squeeze psu and a Teddy Pardo dac. There's a significant price difference between the two.

It might be the twilight years for Naim. Young people are not really interested in expensive hifi and the old farts will only be around for so long before they go deaf or worse. It's difficult to see where the next generation of customers are coming from.

I liked the chrome bumper era products but Naim seem to have been on a downward spiral for the last 25 years and now I have no interest. Their ovator speakers seem to have become something of a joke. Up to £60K for a pair and quickly withdrawn. Must have lost a lot of money on those. A great shame as in some ways they were a standard bearer for small scale UK manufacturing although I understand that the Doc might take a different view.....

They got where they are and emptied the pockets of the brainwashed on the patronage of the Glasgow mafia. If they go under good riddens.

Never really heard that stuff. Seemed a bit of an exclusive cult following.

Naim got themselves a following through clever marketing, ruthless control of dealerships and reviewers, 'distinctive' musical presentation and the emotional buy-in of customers who felt that the next upgrade 'must surely be the one'.

After the passing of Julian Vereker, the company and the products lost their edge (in more ways than one).

The computer audio market is not suited to, or fond of, luxury one box solutions. It misread the enthusiast market and priced itself out of the mainstream markets.

Are you sure he is not behind Devialet, or perhaps they took a leaf out his bullshit (marketing) methods.

My main gripe with Dyson is making product abroad. His vacuums are good but expensive but wouldn't be anything that special technology wise if the competitors didn't produce complete crap. His calling vacuum motors 'Digital' is ridiculous marketing bollocks. I notice his overpriced washing machines have disappeared and he has no chance of producing a serious electric car. Proper motor manufacturers have been trying for years with limited success. BTW if the govt think they are going to ban diesels and make us drive electric they are in cloud cuckoo land. I am willing to bet that in 20 years time there still won't be a battery that will last long enough without plugging in every couple hours travel. Only thing in Dyson's favour I can think off is he supports Brexit.
