Very generous of you, I would only offer 2/6 as it would need a zip added to be of any use.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 2:10 pm I want one, I need a small purse for loose change - but no price, so I have emailed them offering five bob as I have a couple halfcrowns in a draw here.

Re: (in)FAMOUS SLURPS
Here's the sort of greedy pricing that is becoming the habit of a number of 2nd hand dealers:
£379 secondhand: http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthre ... s-Preowned
Or £435 new: http://www.audioaffair.co.uk/sennheiser ... gJPGfD_BwE
In the latter case, the amount to the dealer is £362.50 after the VAT is taken off.
In the former case, assuming the dealer is using the 'Margin' scheme for VAT...if they paid the original owner of the headphones, say £200, then they would pay VAT on the £179 difference between the purchase price of £200 and the sale price of £379. VAT to pay = £29.84 So, the amount remaining to the dealer is £349.16. Only £13.34 less than the brand new pair.
Would not buy from this dealer without some pretty hard haggling. In fact, I would approach with caution as there is no mention on their site of any warranty for secondhand goods.
These types of dealers are still not the worst, though - that accolade is reserved for 'private' sellers on ebay who are really acting as businesses but not declaring it, and not paying income tax or VAT, and not offering warranty or, even, returns.

Re: (in)FAMOUS SLURPS
And most of them are forum members (AoS especially) who have seen a way to slurp extra dosh on the side.
There are a couple there asking for anything that is broken so they can bodge them and sell them on.

Re: (in)FAMOUS SLURPS
I 've seen some ridiculous prices asked on AOS for second hand goods. Frankly anything used should to be little more than half retail once you remove initial depreciation and the 20% VAT.

The Queens ward is bullshit and nothing to do with the Queen. all the hifi companies I have seen get it are the sludge in the pit. FFS Linn got it.

Almost the same story in the start of Linn, maybe Ivor taught Geoff.

Apart from HIFIPIG itself being a tax on the stupid, check out what the manufacturer says about this mains conditioner.
"Contains no electrical components"..
What the actual....?
