Power supply

Unread post by Latteman »

Hi guys
Been trying to read archives for answers but feel I need education.
I have several pieces of equipment that are dc and run from a wall wart (+ one ac piece).
What are these - switching mode, linear or regulated.
As they are dc I have put the wall warts to one side and use a variable dc bench supply and a regulated bench supply for my dac at 13vdc.
The variable bench supply and the regulated supply are significantly bigger than the wall warts- does that mean better or am I introducing ‘noise’ to my system
I do feel the sound is improved but I am also not sure if it’s wishful thinking
Anyone else not use wall warts for dc or ac equipment- cheers peter

I don't use wall warts for anything in my hifi, they're the smallest and most economical way to achieve a voltage/current spec and that's about it.

IME the majority of gear will let you hear the difference between PSU's, assuming a difference does exist.
