Updating my cdp

Unread post by Ordinaryman »

Currently using Rodman kd1 CD player, but since getting ssc ,lls1 and cubetts finding it a bit thin sounding? Would a separate dac improve it or should I just look for another player? Don't stream and will only buy s/h às budget is limited , around £150. Any thoughts? :geek:

A dac may better, different or both.

It is certainly the cheapest option

I see several Arcam CD72 players on Ebay for under 80 pounds. Great decks with a full, rich and detailed sound. Make good transports to an external DAC as well.

never owned any arcam stuff apart from my arcam2s (always been happy with them) do you think cd72 would work with my rega mira? I suppose at that kind of money there would/could be lots to gain and little to loose. will have a look, thanks.

Look up the Chinese £5 dac (might be £10 now ?) and linear psu that the doc found. Worth a go for peanuts.

Can't find any info on Rodman KD1 CDP. Who sells it?

Yes, you can't go wrong with the cheap as chips chinese DAC with the £34 (ish) linear power supply.

Would you be up for hosting a DAC / CD player at your house? I'd bring a Philips CD753 I bought for £30.

Based on my experience, I'd recommend trying a DAC.
