Tidal Black Friday Offer

Unread post by CN211276 »

https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/tidal- ... al-3341703

Tidal are offering a120 day subscription for £1.99. It is really a no brainer so I have given it a try. The catalogue is a bit better than Qobuz where the earMusic label is a major omission. I left Tidal 18 months ago and all my favourites were still in place. Compared it with Qobuz for SQ and I prefer Qobuz. To my ears Tidal was a bit too forward and lacking in bass definition. I thought this might be because BubbleUp did not recognise Tidal Masters, but when I compared 44kHz 16Bit against the same the outcome was the same. I will be staying with Qobuz and cancelling Tidal at the end of the 120 days. When I originally switched from Tidal to Qobuz I found the difference in SQ to be less. I think the improvement now is a result of improvements to my system.

All things considered this Black Friday offer is well worth taking up, especially for anyone who has not experienced high resolution streaming. The improvement over Spotify is night and day and I think some might find Tidal preferntial to Qobuz.

You must be golden eared CN. :grin: We recently trialled Qobuz and could not hear any real difference, so sticking with Tidal. It was too confusing with two suppliers using Roon.

The 120 days is up and I have cancelled the Tidal subscription. Qobuz is now significtly cheaper and I took up the offer on the annual subscription last month. Althought to my ears I only find that Qobuz has a slight SQ edge through the main system, via headphones it is significant, both through the Grado SR325e/Mojo and Oppo PM3/DF Red. Not sure why, could be the effect of the Mscaler. Do a lot more headphone listening in the warmer months. Sat out the garden in the sun now for the first time this year. :grin: :guiness;

It would seem that a lot of people cancelled after the 120 days. There is now another 120 day offer, this time for £4. A no brainer for me as it fills in gaps in the Qobuz catalogue. I think they are targeting Spotify subscribers. For anyone with half decent equipment and a half decent pair of ears the differencd is obvious.

Tidal have the same Black Friday offer, 120 days for £1.99. The snag is that it is not open to previous account holders. Easily overcome by setting up a new account with a different email address.

No Black Friday offer as such this year but the price of a 44kHz 16Bit tier has been reduced to £10 per month. This is very tempting as it will fill in gaps in the Qobuz catalogue at little cost. Would not pay £20 a month and I am sceptical as to what this highest tier provides over the one half the price with all the mystique about MQA.

Took up this offer last year following your post and went for the full fat hi res Master/ Mqa option.
At the time only able to listen on a tablet with headphones as my Hi Fi was all boxed up while I was building a new lounge to put it in.
It sounded very good to my ears but I cancelled at the end of the offer period as I did not at the time want to spend £19.99 a month with that being the only that means of listening.
Over the following weeks the price dropped to £14.99 and when I did not take that up it went lower still I think to £12.99.

Since then I have found this on YouTube from Golden Sounds to help anyone interested make there mind up.

Please look.

Don't gas my Badger........it's not Lager..!

I think MQA is something of a red herring shrouded by smoke and mirrors. I like to know what you are getting in Bit and sample rates. I prefer Qobuz SQ for reasons mentioned elsewhere in this thread. The catalogue is improving and they now have earMusic.
