Well mine is certainly scruffy and undesirable enough.

I've been doing a bit of research on the internet recently for a couple of bits and bobs and came upon another add -on to the usb chain, and knowing there are some keen usb'ers on here I thought it worth posting this.
https://www.underwoodhifi.com/products/usbe-perfect - it's a dc regenerator and then does the jitterbug thing.
I don't know if the introductory offer is still available, but for anyone interested it would be a good saving.

Looks a bit like the iFi iPurifier I use and similar in price. It does make a difference, more so than the Jitterbug.
I set a course just east of Lyra
And northwest of Pegasus
Flew into the light of Deneb
Sailed across the Milky Way
On my ship, the Rocinante
Wheeling through the galaxies
Headed for the heart of Cygnus
Headlong into mystery
The x-ray is her siren song
My ship cannot resist her long
Nearer to my deadly goal
Until the black hole
Gains control

RIP Doc

After some browsing I noticed some usb dacs do not have a power supply- I presume they feed off the usb output of source for sound and power.
What kind of power does a usb put out for example from a pc- 5v?
I run an iPhone via camera adapter via usb to a powered dac- I assume the iPhone could supply 5v if plugged in/ charging?
Analogue Source -
Diy Thorens Td321; ARB uni pivot; Ortofon Vivo Blue Mc; MCA10 / Nva Phono 1.
Digital Sources- MF M1 Clic, Diy IDE cdp, iPhone 6s .
Amplification 2x Nva A20
Speakers- Diy ‘Isobaric Cubes’; Ls6 bi-wired
Dc blocker to mini BMU

My AQ DF Red feeds off my Samsung Galaxy Android phone, connected to Beyerdynamic head phones which are not the most efficient. It does not drain a lot of power.

5V is what every USB connection runs on, it's the current that varies. For instance, the ASUS Tinker Board requires 5v/3A according to the specs, whereas the Pi II only requires 5v/2A. I'm only going by memory, but you get the picture.

Voltage = 5V fixed
Current = variable.

I have a couple of USB DACs, including an AQ Dragonfly Red, that run off the internal 5V USB supply from a host unit.

These DAC's all sound better if they are getting solid and clean wattage from some sort of intermediate device like the Oehlbach Masterclock or Schiit Wyrd.

Ordinary host devices will power these DAC's but a dedicated supply does provide an audible improvement.

I'm quite looking forward to this arriving DAC32 Streamer

https://polyvection.com/wp-content/uplo ... 0x420.jpeg

https://polyvection.com/en/product/dac32/

Basically it's a development of Squeezeamp and squeezelite from the old squeezebox ecosystem. I don't expect it to be as good as some of the more esoteric bits and bobs mentioned here, but as something capable of streaming 24/96, it'll go quite nicely in the kitchen with some spare speakers etc.
