The repair shop being your spare room or garage or garden shed?

Surely it will have relatively simple electronics?

Have you tried plugging it in to see if it will spin OK?
What condition is the drive belt in? It could be fine or it could be perished.
Oil in the bearing?

I predict it will sound more alive and dynamic than your Pro-ject Debut 2...

Belt is fine, bearings are good. All rather surprising actually.

I have had it plugged in this morning - the motor doesn't spin but there is a vibration as if power is going to the motor. even when the speed control is set to off.
This is why I replaced it with the Debut.

Just had the electronics out for inspection and checked the fuse - which is OK.

It's going to my local Hifi shop who have a good repair service (and cheap).

Sounds like a case of checking what electrical supply the motor should be receiving and testing to see if it's getting that.

Which should be quick and simple enough for the shop to do and then it's a case of sorting out the motor power supply or the motor or both.

I recall the Logic being highly regarded in the 80s, but like others such as the Pink Triangle, System Deck, JBE, Ariston etc, the hifi press insisted that the LP12 was superior.

Sonore MicroRendu, Chord Mojo 2 MCRU PSs, AQ Carbon USB cable & JB FMJ

Iirc the board in there is similar to the board in the axis, has an oscillator to alter the frequency to get 33 and 45. If it is making the motor vibrate when simply plugged in something is open circuit. The Motor is probably getting half a sinewave making it jolt, hence the vibration. Its a clock motor same as lp12, thorens rega et al, it is not a simple board.
Not really a diy fix unless you plan to replace everything. Perhaps a full re-cap would do it,. Youd need a scope to see what the motor is getting off the board. There were several variations of boards over the years, so it needs some thorough investigation

Servicing the Logic makes the most sense! I bet it will be a fine table again with a bit of attention and a nice cartridge bolted up to it.
