Arm is a Syrinx LE1.

Logic later introduced their own arm, the Datum, which was made for them by Syrinx who were, I believe, based in Scotland.

I can recall some of the very biased pro Linn reviewers saying the Syrinx was better than the Itok on the LP12.

I bought this turntable setup in 1985 (give or take a year) and at the time I absolutely wanted NOTHING to do with the 'Flat Earth' Linn/Naim hype as everything I had heard from those manufacturers sounded 'wrong' to me.

My local Hifi shop at the time was Huddersfield Hifi, run by an extremely nice guy called Hugh Chadwick. There I upgraded my audiophile-starter-system of Michell Focus One, Nytech CA252 and Kef speakers for the NVA pre-power combo, Logic/Syrinx/A&R P77 TT and Arcam One loudspeakers. When it was quiet in the shop he would let me assemble and try out systems in one of the listening rooms.

Syrinx have been revived and do offer a rewire and bearing service- might be worth it

That PU7 arm does bear a resemblance to the Syrinx.

I don't think he makes the arms anymore, although I'm sure he would service it for you, give him a call, he made a good job on my Rega 250. The PU7 was definitely based on the Syrinx tonearm, did I read he sold the rights to build them?

The DM101 is back from the repair shop, serviced, cleaned and with the power-supply fixed (that, apparently, was the problem).

Now to sort out a suitable cartridge, the A&R P77Mg is somethng I can remember having problems with as it has a massive, solid Magnesium body which was really too heavy for the Syrinx arm to work comfortably with.

Looking around, and following advice here, I tried to locate a Nagaoka MP-110, but these are out of stock everywhere because there is a worldwide shortage of suitable diamonds. Investigating alternatives, I came across the Grado Prestige Black, which is well-recommended and within my budget. Reading up on this I saw that there is an alternative, the Green version, which has higher-quality stylus - so I have ordered one. When that come in then I'll get the TT running again.

Although that will be the next headache, the Logic deck's suspension is notoriously tricky and it has been 30+ years since I last had to set it up.

Something from ADC range may suit this arm- I have a budget ADC Phase iv and it is really nice- I enjoy listening to it - punches above it price bracket- another mm that does this is the Sumiko Pearl

The grado green should work well in that arm. if you find you dont like it, look at the vm540ml as an alternative
