A table only as to spin the disk at 33.3 . There are many ways of doing this all equally as good which is why Linn were lying.

Imagine the marketing men 'what you want us to convince people springs in comprehension and a rubber band is better than any other propulsion method, I see'
Sorry afraid I cannot agree with this one. There is far more to a turntable drive unit than spinning a record at 33.3. If that is all that needs to be done then that is easily achieved, especially with any closed loop correction circuit. Even the "primitive" AR XA could do this with just referencing line voltage and precisely machined motor pulley and platter dimensions. Achieving 33.3 is not hard.

Yet a turntable is a sum of its resonances, or lack there of. Achieving the lowest noise floor from bearing, motor, tone arm, and outside influences is the goal. The devil is in the details.

The idea that all a turntable has to do is spin a record at the correct speed is an oversimplification in my opinion. Kind of like saying all a car needs to do is roll from point A to point B without breaking.

But let us get back to Fretless enjoying his old friend, and the enjoyment of spinning records.

Let the stand isolate.

The very fact that thier hundreds of solutions go's to show it's a myth. Its like wine . Taste the blackberries and chocolate.

Project is cheaply and poorly made it doesn't matter that it spins correctly

You have to have basic engineering correct.

Suitable size platter, close tolerance bearing etc. These cost. But once you've got the basic engineering right , all it as to do is spin the record.

Same arm, cartridge on a variety of propulsions you will get the same sound, unless your a wine taster, then you'll obsess over minor differences because your more interested in hifi than music

I'm not a fan of of the cheaper range of Project tt's, but I was pretty impressed with one like this at a show, was used to demonstrate the difference between cartridges https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/signature-12/
Back on subject, the Logic certainly looks good, and I'm sure it is better placed now than in the attic

The Pro-Ject Debut is a starter-system deck, meant to be affordable, easy to use and to give a taste of what can be sonically achieved if you buy a more expensive (Pro-Ject, of course) TT.

So, no, the dog's bollocks it ain't but what it does do, it does well (enough).

Strengthening the support shelf and adding mass to the platter with a heavier rubber mat and record-clamp all helped to improve the SQ of the Debut deck and I had it sounding quite presentable. The Logic was a big leap up in stability and performance - but that is only to be expected.

Also, for the vinyl cognoscenti ( or all-knowing wise ones), I've just ordered one of these:

a Tonar leather turntable mat. should be in tomorrow.
