ps after the years I have been on this site I have just found out how to thank someone. Shame on me.
There is 50V between the two wires that go to the rectifier, yes.

Between each of those wires and 0V will be 25V.

The like feature hasn't been around that long so don't worry

It was negligible. You can pay postage of your phono 1 if you don't like the mods🤣

Very kind of you but you really don't need to be out of pocket. Could you let me have photos and /or instructions for the upgrade. I have been having a look around for the parts and there seems to be lots of alternatives and easy to get, apart from the ELNA capacitors which all seem to require importation or cost a fortune. If I can't get them there seems to be lots of others available.

I will photo it tomorrow and put on the forum ,along with instructions.

The capacitors the doc used are reliable and cheap. Indeed you could use them if thier fine and experiment later on if your inclined.

I can't photograph the power supply for the phono amp it's in a sealed chassis with copper foil covering everything to stop interference. But I photographed a power supply , it's exactly the same.
.
1. The first thing you do ,it move the transformer ,capacitors and bridge rectifier from the phono 1 unit.

2. Just leave the boards and RCA's in the phono 1 box. Put it to one side .

3. Put new transformer , bridge rectifier and capacitors in new chassis as per photograph .
4. The umbilical chord length is up to you , mine is 3m . Solder the 3 wire as per photograph, blue, brown ,yellow.

With 2 hands I expect the soldering to be neater🤣

I'll move onto stage 2when I've photographed it, it's in situ ,so I have to get it out

Ive broken my own rule, I forgot to mention the wiring.

The bridge rectifier as markings on , my is - and AC . This is placed away from the transformer .

The rear of bridge rectifier is (looking from markings at front) black wire from transformer to rear left. Rear right wire from br to caps negative terminal .

Front of br , front left wire to caps positive and front left , yellow wire from transformer.

The caps are placed in oppossing sides. Positive terminal on capacitor near the wire from front left rectifier. The one at an angle.

The other cap , negative terminal near yellow. Solder wire with is far right on terminal .

This means you got the caps opposing. So the unused terminals on the caps nearest to you , is negative on near left of 1st cap and positive on near left of second cap.

If there anything you don't understand , it will be because my way of explaining ain't good ,so ask . My experience is that wiring wrong will kill your transformer.
