Remember when you played records with needles and the cost of packaging was less than the cost of the product?

I actually remember playing with a wind-up gramophone when I was very young, and having 78s by Beniamino Gigli - I can remember there was "Che Gelida Manina"and "La Donna e Mobile," - and Stanley Holloway's "With Her Head Tucked Underneath Her Arm".

We had a tin of "proper" needles too.

And no, it wasn't new when I got it.

My father's favourite - I may have inherited a 10" LP somewhere. I apparently called him "Mr Giggly". I should have followed that thread - I might have beaten Roger Hargreaves to it.
