The aluminium strips are a great idea, when reading the speakers were on a circular top plate I was a 'little' unsure of how secure they would be

Yes, the strips have worked a treat.
As well as being wider than they are deep, the Mission speakers also have the additional complication of the bass driver being at the top of the cab instead of the more usual bottom position: even more tendency to topple forwards.
