I don't remember a NOS setting
Think it is an upsampling DAC.

upsamples to 24-bit/192kHz with SRC4392 Burr-Brown
edit: up 192kHz via S/PDIF (coaxial or Toslink), up to 96kHz via USB.

Re: Musical Fidelity V-DAC II
Small update. Factory op amp in my V-DAC II was replaced with OPA1612, and oh boy. Midbass is way, way better, bass is not mushy at all, and on the other side vocals are really amazing. When I played Some misunderstanding by Soulsavers, voice of Mark Lanegan was so much forward to my face that it almost brings tear to my eye, That said, the soundstage is wider and separation of instruments has been never better. Compared with Topping E50 that I also have, V-DAC II is, despite the age, more musical DAC.
The next thing on my mind is to maybe switch from USB to Coax, to reach 192khz compared to 96 on USB. That means that I will need a proper converter (I am using only Tidal via my tablet and cellphone), but those converters/inerfaces seem pretty expensive and not sure if it's worth a shot
