It annoys the hell out of me that in these days of modern technology and customising consumer goods to the nth degree, eg cars that have comprehensive options lists, that we can't have LCD (Lowest Common Denominator) releases as well as pure / rough / unpolished / uncompressed versions.

And allow the consumer to pick whether they want to buy something to listen to on earbuds on a tube train, or something fit for a decent system at home.

Personally I'm not into deliberately buying multiple copies of the same album. Because I'd rather spend my money on something fresh that I've not heard before. Ideally of a genre that I like and without the bloody dynamic compression.

Something else to consider is what so many young people today are listening to where musicianship and melody are at a premium or non existent. What is the point of recording anything with hifi in mind in respect of rap and hip hop.
