Problems copying files.
I'm trying to write some music files to new 500gb micro SD cards. The files are in the format Disc A/Artist A/Albums/Tracks. The first 40gb transfer correctly but then problems start. DiscA, Artist A and Albums transfer ok but the Album folders are empty. I can transfer individual tracks but when trying to play them Foobar tells me they're either in an unknown format or corrupted. If I then take the card out of the computer and put it back in the Disc A folder is empty. When the files are being transferred the transfer box on the screen shows everything - amount of data, speed, etc - are all correct. The 2 cards are different makes and from 2 different suppliers and as the problem is the same on both I assume the problem is not faulty cards but something to do with the O.S. of my 14 year old Win7 computer.. I've transferred plenty of files in the past with no problem including onto 500gb cards so I'm a bit stumped so if anyone has some advice I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks.

Re: Problems copying files.
Have you reformatted the cards and removed any partitions prior to copying ?

Re: Problems copying files.
I right clicked on the disc icon and selected quick format which is what I've done in the past with new cards.

Re: Problems copying files.
Use Windows Partition Manager to see if the cards are split up into various sections.
Warning. DO NOT change anything on your computer's internal hard-drive.
You can probably update Windows 7 to 10 for free. Windows 10 is quite stable these days.

Re: Problems copying files.
I'm currently trying a full format to see if that helps but 500gb takes quite a time!

Re: Problems copying files.
What happens if you copy the files to a different folder on your hard drive and then check the files in the hard drive?
What happens if you copy the files to a different hard drive? Or a different computer?
What happens if you copy different stuff, eg video files or word processed files to the SD cards?
What happens if you use a different computer to copy the music files to the SD cards?
Simple logical fault finding. To isolate where the actual issue is.

Re: Problems copying files.
Thanks for the advice. I'm sure it's not the files as they copy fine to other cards. I do wonder if trying to get 500gb on something the size of a micro SD card is pushing it a bit. If it had only been 1 card I'd have assumed a faulty card but the fact that I had the same problem on 2 cards made me think it had to be something else.
