I do not find a wired connection outside much of an inconvenience providing the DAC headphone amp is small. My Chord Mojo is fine for the garden and picks up the WiFi from the house. Out walking I need something smaller which fits into my pocket with the phone. After a lot of deliberation I have just pulled the trigger on the Questyle M12i. It will be interesting to see how it compares, to these ears, to the AQ ones I have used previously.
How many boxes in your home network / streaming set-up?

Bluetooth reaches a different audience - one that is growing rather than shrinking.

If I gave the number someone might send for the men in white coats.

From what I have picked up on other forums I am not alone. Hifi was far simpler decades gone by, TT, amp and speakers.

A complete system was Turntable, Tuner, Tape Deck, Amp and speakers

How I come to have two turntables, three tuners, three pre-amps, three power amps four sets of speakers and three open reel tape decks is another matter.

I saw sense last month, ditched everything and bought a little system from Richer Sounds York, comprising a Denon DM41 DAB receiver and a pair of Q Acoustic 3010i
https://www.richersounds.com/denon-dm41 ... 10i-black/

It’s brilliant 🤩 Just plays the music without any nonsense.
I still build stuff but it’s just tube headphone amps these days. Can’t be arsed with anything else. Not quite Stu territory yet, but nearly there.

I've got an earlier version of that Denon and speaker combo. It's in my man cave and can't fault it really. I don't build anything these days but had to solder something on my 4x4 the other day and it reminded me of days gone by - mad soldering frenzies, excitedly listening to the results and then the soul destroying realisation a few weeks later that what I had just built was in fact a huge pile of crap

I did move from the little Bluetooth speaker to ap20, wiim pro and B&W CM1 (already had amp and speakers) It's been losing connection between tablet and wiim a lot recently so is about to be ejected out of the window.

Since my wife passed away, the necessity for multiple systems for different purposes where I could hide away and listen to music when I wanted to has also gone. Some installations (the Upstairs setup, for example) have become totally redundant.

The Downstairs set is mainly the TEAC DD turntable and Chi-fi Class D amps - sounds terrific for now, although seeing as the place is completely my own, I might change the layout around and try to find a place for my NVA Cube2's.

The need for headphone setups is also virtually gone. Perhaps I'll have a critical look at the gear available here and sell some of it; things like my Metrum DAC and Logic TT might fetch a reasonable amount of cash. There are several unused CD players lying around as well from the likes of Arcam and NAD.

Ideally, I should be able to happily exist with:
1) a main system where I can play LP's, CD's and network streaming. '
2) bedroom set, streaming only
3) office desktop set (streaming & PC) with speakers and headphones.
4) kitchen (wifi streamer & radio)

So, there is a wealth of unused Hifi equipment here with 3 turntables, several amps, a stack of CDP's, too many headphones (and amps) and a couple of DAC's all gathering dust until I get around to sorting things out. But my life is in the middle of a major upheaval at the moment and changes in my situation are vaguely appearing on the horizon. One lesson I have learnt is that getting rid of things without very good reason can lead to major regrets later on.

Music and Hifi has always been a comfort and a refuge for me; a place to hide from the occasionally grim realities. Life is changing and I am changing with it. I suppose I will just have to wait and see where it brings me.
