Trying out these oak stands. A definite improvement on the heavy metal ones I've been using, which tend to blur timing and and just sound a bit disjointed, overall. The oak stands give a more natural, coherent presentation, to my ears. I have used the very light Torlyte stands in the past, with excellent sonic results, but the top plate is too small for the job, really, and the Cubes could easily be toppled. No such trouble with these...
...the metal stands were just a bit too tall at 700mm. These are just a tad too short at 600mm but using large oak cones on the top plate helps.

Certainly what Richard used (other than those marble things). I found an oak railway sleeper cut in half plus a bit of fettling produced reasonable results.

I remember spotting the marble ones on eBay. 15 minutes later he had bought them - they were down his way rather than oop ere, so I think he got another forum member to help him pick them up.
He told me didn't know whether to put them in the front room or either side of his front door with marble busts of Nadia and himself atop.

I'm not sure if a forum member help him to pick them up but I definitely know another forum member took them our of his van and hoiked them up the stairs.

They are a lot different to mine which are Atacama solid metal and very heavy. I seem to recall Richard saying they are a design that can work very well with Cubes because of the inertia. I have had them ninteen years, cost around £70 at the time.

The metal ones I have, here, have hollow uprights, so they ring...and I can't be arsed to fill them.

I can make you some out of oak tree trunk about a foot wide. A Cow Pat Audio speciality
Forklift required at your end and make sure you reinforce the floor where you are putting them.
