In addition to the new UK lockdown (which looks set in for the rest of the Winter and early Spring), Tomasz has also had some news that will further impact the plans we had for him to be here in mid January...the medication he has to take for a pre-existing condition reduces his immune system function. This means that he won't be offered a vaccine (because it would not be effective) and it also means that he is a little more at risk from the disease than most people in his age group.

Given this new information, plus the aforementioned tightening of the national lockdown in both the UK and Poland (the Polish borders are still closed), and the dramatically increased costs and logistical difficulties involved with travelling by air, we have decided to keep Tomasz in Poland until the end of March. Most of the range is available from stock, already (albeit in limited numbers for some items). For items that are out of stock, or made to order (excluding cables and upgrades), we are offering a 10% discount on orders placed and paid before the end of February, as a thank you for your patience. Be assured that any orders placed are completely safe. We stocked up on all parts, at the back end of last year, to avoid any delays / price increases that might be caused by Brexit.

If you are waiting for repair to an item, we are sorry about the delay. We did look at expanding the workshop in Poland, but the increased difficulties and costs of sending items back and forth that have resulted from the pandemic (and, more so now from Brexit), cannot be justified.

Once we get a proper assessment of all the new rules and any additional costs, especially surrounding VAT / Duty, customs / courier handling fees, supplier price increases and the customs process for returns, we will consider what arrangements we might put in place for the longer term.

This is proof from the front line of what a self inflicted disaster Brexit and the deal are. I think the problems facing NVA would be of interest to anti Brexit sectors of the media.

Brought this home for a spin. We bought it to use at shows. A couple of CD players and a Cambridge CXC transport have been through the system in the last 4 or 5 years. This is the first that is at least the match of the Exact Audio Copy rips on my Vortexbox. I reckon this is pretty good value. Making agile and open music with a little secondhand SML Dac (£70). Could be a bit of beer money high end fun, if you don't need high-res, to pair it up with an older 'super dac' like a Chord 64 (now a few about secondhand for around £500) or similar.

Yeah. I managed to get 3 of them on vinyl when they first came out. Then filled in the gaps with the CDs. One of them has been sailing around the south west coast of Turkey for the last 2 and a half years, after the captain insisted he couldn't live without it...

Update on sales to EU countries.

We have concluded that the new trading arrangements with the EU, introduced on 01/01/2021, simply are not compatible with direct selling of NVA products to individual customers in the EU Zone.

The additional costs involved for the customer (VAT and customs fees), the extensive paperwork, possible delays and difficulties with returns mean that direct sales, cross border, will be a much less attractive proposition for both customers and ourselves.

When NVA returns to the EU, it will be through a distributor and a network of dealers. Customers want an easy, painless way to try your product. The new arrangements are the opposite. Plus, if your product is going to be more expensive, anyway, then you may as well go for convenience and wider promotion through a dealer network.
