Hans Zimmer Batman stuff again. Maybe it's the beer and whisky (makes you frisky - yes, I know), maybe it's the repositioning of the speakers maybe it's turning the volume up a couple of notches but this guy could teach Rossini a thing or two about how to deliver a crescendo.

The wonderful Neil Innes - I presume you also have Rutland Weekend TV (with Eric Idle). and if you haven't already heard it, check out the wonderful 'Off the record' double album - more artist pastiches there and some damn good songs.

I used to watch Rutland when it was first broadcast and loved every minute of it. Another favourite in a similar vein but from a lot earlier (1967, I just looked it up) was Do Not Adjust Your Set featuring The Bonzos alongside such future stars as David Jason, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, and Terry Jones and was probably the real progenitor of Monty Python as Cleese and Chapman both admitted to being fans of the show. Oh yes, and Terry Gilliam used to provide the animations between sketches. It's worth searching out some clips on YouTube if you haven't seen it. Some of them don't wear too well but others are worth it just to see Viv Stanshall "acting" alongside the future Pythons.

I've just done a quick search on your "Off the Record" suggestion, and see it's a selection from "The Innes Book of Records" which I used to watch. I shall make it my duty to search it out, not least because there's a great supporting cast of musicians on the album too.

Well worth seeking out. PS You forget Denise Coffey as The Woman in Black and David Jason as Bicycle Repair Man. Truly seminal ( or ovular, whatever your taste).

And if I remember correctly Bicycle Repair Man eventually became a Monty Python sketch, as did several others from D.N.A.Y.S. ;)
