That "The Dead Pirates" track sounds like they've done a lot of listening to people like Dick Dale and the excellent Messer Chups.

Re: Your last listen
I'm gonna give that a listen tomorrow. Too busy with The Pixies at the moment. If you've been telling porkies Paul then I will come and spank your bottom.
I really hope you've been telling porkies.

Re: Your last listen
Jean-Michel Jarre 'Oxymore' (2022]

If you're expecting 'more' in the style of 'Oxygene' then stop reading now because this is the other side of Jarre - back to his early days of Musique Concrete and tonal exploration. Think of a mix of Froese's 'Aqua' and Vangelis 'Beaubourg' brought into the 21st century.
A difficult listen, 'Oxymore' is designed to challenge the senses and provoke, not soothe. You do sense that a lot of thought and work has gone into assembling the aural tapestry on display here. Occasionally Jarre lets loose with some serious dancefloor beats (a style he laid the foundations for!) and there are tuneful passages to carry one from place to place in this sonic journey.
Most notably, 'Oxymore' is incredibly well recorded and is a real blast on the stereo. A binaural mix specifically for headphones is available (as WAV) for free download (if you have the CD voucher). Jarre meant this to be an 'Immersive experience' and did the recording primarily in 5.1 surround.
Not for the faint-hearted but a grower when you persevere.

Mis Calles - Calle Nurva
When we were in Malaga last week sat outside a sea front cafe the busking duo outside were very good. They intermingled classic rock and blues with unfamiliar material in Spanish. We stayed for quite a while and gave them five Euros. In return we were given the above five track CD which I have ripped. It is all in Spanish and could be original material with full instrumentation. A nice souvenir from a good holiday.

Roxy Music 'For Your Pleasure' (1973)

Not so much listening to the LP as just staring at the cover.

Re: Your last listen
Andreas Vollenweider 'Caverna Magica' (1983)

Scoff as ye may, students of olde 'serious' musick!
Mr Vollenweider gets lumped in with the 'New Age' crowd all too easily, but his work is carefully constructed and highly spiritual in nature. Based around his magnificent harp-playing with subtle colourings from synths, guitars and percussion, his recordings are, admittedly, easy on the ear but enjoyable nonetheless.
This album is the second of his initial 'The Trilogy' series which I have all recently picked up very cheaply on LP. 'Caverna Magica' just happens to be sublimely-recorded AND half-speed mastered which makes it a delight for a late-evening relax with a good book & glass of Scotch.
I first encountered his music with a bargain-bin cassette in the 80's and he has remained a guilty pleasure ever since.
