Wurzels get a fair amount of mention on Regal Zonophone (UK psych forum).

Fuzz & kazoos to the max. Pickin' and a-grinnin'.

Everyone on this forum need invest in at least one Wurzels title.

Siouxsie & the Banshees 'Kaleidoscope' (1980)

Image

Having been deserted by their guitarist and drummer during a concert, Siouxsie and bassist Steve Severin recruited the highly-talented Budgie from Big in Japan with his battery of tuned percussion and went off looking for a guitar-player. This they found in the shape of John McGeoch, who was still under contract as a member of Magazine at the time and could not be credited as an official Banshee.

This lineup produced the first, for me, 'proper' Banshees album 'Kaleidoscope' and you knew there was something different from the lead-off single 'Christine' which opens with a 12-string acoustic guitar riff. Here the band move out of the shadows of Punk and begin to form the new sound of Goth-Rock that would bloom with the monolithic power of 'Juju'.

I saw the Banshees on every tour with McGeoch and they grew steadily into a massive force that could thrill, chill and kill with equal ease. Whatever happened to great music like this?

"now she's in purple, now she's a turtle"

I always struggled with that one, lol.

JuJu is great, as is the single 'Israel' that came between the two albums.

A lot of Siouxsie's lyrics were about depression and mental instability. 'Christine' is a song describing a schizophrenic with 22 different personalities.

Bernard Butler, People move on transparent vinyl. This was my RDS special release. There's no doubting the quality of the song writing and the music but this release is no better to listen to than a streamed version so it's been added to the " To be sold" pile that's growing every week. I don't have many transparent LPs but the few I have are underwhelming and going forward I am going to avoid them.
Modified Airlink BPS 3110S with LDA DC filter
TTs, Kenwood KD 8030 with AT OC9XSH, Opera Consonance Wax Engine mk2 with modified Apheta 2 MC cart, PT TOO awaiting restoration.
LDA MCJ3 phono,Schiit Freya plus pre amp, NAD M23, Audiolab 9000 CD transport, Denafrips Pontus 2 DAC, Mano Ultra2 streamer, Cisco switch, Audio Technica ATH 70 cans, Serhan Swift Mu2 mk2 speakers & NSNO W48.5 speaker cables

I remember a couple of transparent LPs from the 70's: Hillage's 'Rainbow Dome Musick' and TD's 'Force Majeure' - there was something about the pressings that rendered them virtually unlistenable.
