And then a pack of 2nd-hand CD's arrives for perusal. Running through these in chronological order you can hear the beginning as a mainly Jazz-Funk instrumental group, then into a mid-period as a chart-single, song-orientated outfit and then moving on to a sophisticated Jazz-Rock sound.
What cannot be denied is a consistently high standard of technical ability coupled with fine production. Level 42 were always a supremely proficient band who could write a good tune too!.
The dark days of winter are approaching and this music brings a bit of sunshine along with it.
