Michael Jackson ~ Thriller (original 82 release) on vinyl. I completely avoided anything I deemed to be mainstream in my formative years so this is actually first time around for my ears. I like it apart from the gimmicky title track. Lots of energy in the recording.

One of the frustrating things about being a synth-music fan is that some of the best releases are almost impossible to find, let alone pay for, these days and so it is a pleasant surprise to find that Bandcamp has a lot of albums from great acts like: Kubusschnitt, ARC, Free System Projekt, Radio Massacre International, Airsculpture and Redshift. Downloads are in a variety of formats including WAV (some are 24bit Hi-res) and there are substantial discounts for bulk-buying a band's complete discography. So I am now in the process of downloading Redshift's entire catalogue of 15 albums.
Redshift is a British Berlin-School EM outfit active since the 90's, based around Mark Shreeve who is a master of the 'Big Moog' and massed vintage analogue keys. Live he is joined by other musicians (including Ian Boddy) to kick up storms of aural magic that revisit the overpowering sonic majesty of 70's Tangerine Dream.
