Steve Hackett 'At The Edge Of Light' (2019)



Alongside being the custodian of the Genesis legacy, Steve Hackett has released a string of consistently strong and adventurous albums of his own - of which this is number 25!

Swinging from Classic Rock to Blues, World Music or sensitive acoustic passages at the drop of a hat, Hackett's experience has seen him master any genre that he focusses on. Songwriting is another of his talents and on 'At the Edge of Light' he is on top form with a set of songs that remind me of his superb 'Defector' album in their variety and power.

Quality music from a craftsman.

Slinger have you got Jackie and Ian Rankin "Again", my favourite ever live album and quite a thought provoking story. Ian and Jackie giving a stunning evocative but funny performance telling the story of a Fifer returning to Fife for a Funeral. Well worth a listen if you don't already own it.

You have to have a bit of fun in this awful lockdown.
This CD is crazy.
Made me and the missus laugh out loud

Slinger have you got Jackie and Ian Rankin "Again", my favourite ever live album and quite a thought provoking story. Ian and Jackie giving a stunning evocative but funny performance telling the story of a Fifer returning to Fife for a Funeral. Well worth a listen if you don't already own it.

I've got the "Jackie Leven Said" album he did with Ian Rankin (a favourite author -- and I haven't only read the John Rebus Books ) Is that the one you're thinking of?



While I was looking for that pic I came across this:
"Jackie Leven Said: A Double CD Release Of Storytelling, Laughter And Music by Ian Rankin" which is also described as a hardback book.
Whatever it is, I've ordered it.

I'm sure it'll be a nice(?) surprise when it turns up. Hopefully, it'll be an actual book of the stories, and if it's got a couple of CDs tucked inside it? Bonus! For under six quid including postage I'm not going to argue.

Including the above, one album, as Sir Vincent Lone, and one as David St Field, I've got 14 of Jackie's albums. You might have guessed that I quite like his music.

After beating being unable to speak for nearly two years due to being assaulted and near strangled, his heroin addiction, and the booze, bloody cancer took him in the end.. Life definitely ain't fair.
