Will probably bring the little Grace dac home from the office.

Tomasz is keen for me to explore Raspberry Pi, but I looked at their site and it appears to be gobledegook. I'm more likely to go looking for a 2nd hand NOS dac off ebay, lol.
Off topic I know but -
If I can put together a Raspberry Pi/ Hifi berry streamer, then quite frankly anyone can. And for the money, the quality is good, not magnificent but certainly more than acceptable.

In terms of music
Jaz Coleman - Magna Invocatio - A Gnostic Mass For Choir And Orchestra Inspired By The Sublime Music Of Killing Joke. This actually is really rather good. I'm sort of looking forward to their next live sets, whenever they are, and whatever rather odd conspiracy theories they've cooked up during lockdowns 1 & 2
Steve Hillage - Live in England, a nice bit of hippy goodness to overcome any doom laden forebodings
Rainbow - Long Live Rock n Roll, to blow away any remaining cobwebs.

That Jaz Coleman release looks interesting.
Put it on my Xmas list too. :occasion-santa:

Currently playing here:

Rypdal / Vitous / DeJohnette 'To Be Continued'

Image

The second album from this trio of top jazz-stylists. Miroslav Vitous pulls out the electric bass guitar on the title track which is a fine piece of rocky atmospheric fusion with Terje Rypdal on powerchord psychedelics and Jack DeJohnette diggng deep into the groove.

About 18 months old.
Sudden death without signs of malfunction could simply be a fuse (internal). I'm assuming you checked the plug fuse. If you are after a NOS R2R Dac the Denafrips Ares II gets a lot of praise and doesn't break the bank. Probably some used around due to upgraditis.

Yes, changed the fuse in the plug. Also tried another 12v power supply. Internal fuse is probably favourite.

Plugged the Grace SDAC in. Happily listening to music. Then it went off...and I couldn't get the MicroRendu to reboot properly. Power coming on for a minute or so, then going off again.

After a process of elimination, traced problem to the LPSU connected to the Micro Rendu. Plugged my IFI smps supply in and we are up and running again.

Been listening to quite a bit o" Fado" live on you tube. Spent some nice times in Portugal in the past and this was always present in the smaller local bars. This just reminded me of those times. Not everyone's cup of tea, just give it a go you might like it who knows?.
Anyway if as and when all this crap is over would love to go back and enjoy that close live performance again.

Does this mean there is not a problem with the RME?

It doesn't power up, so maybe an internal fuse...different power supply to the MicroRendu
