Busy times here at Fretless Manor, serious music listening is restricted to an LP or 2 in the evening, but in the kitchen and in the car one band has been receiving a lot of attention - one of Australia's top rock acts from the last 30 years: Powderfinger.

Noticed them as founder Ian Haug has now taken the main guitar chair in The Church - and I was curious about his background.

Powderfinger released a series of excelient, accessible albums like 'Double Allergic' and 'Internationalist' but their crowning moment must be the amazing 'Odyssey Number Five'. Well worth a listen if you like great guitars and wonderful songs.

My visit to a local record shop paid off: a 47 year old piece of vinyl that still sounds brand new. I've been blasting this out with all the windows open so I hope the neighbours appreciate it too!
