Thank you for the reference to Gene Hackman. Along with music, I have a very large collection of films from the 30's to the 90's, so am a bit of a film geek.....
Mr. Hackman was a very fine and versatile actor, and I personally held him in very high regard.
I never saw Gene Hackman in his films, always the character. Popeye Doyle (of course). The Polish General Sosabowski in A Bridge Too Far. Captain Ramsay in Crimson Tide (Steely Dan fans please note), and a psychoapthic President Richmond in Absolute Power.
His contribution over the second half of the 20th century should not be underestimated. RIP.

Drew Zingg, a renowned guitarist known for his work in the jazz/rock/blues space as well as time spent with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs, has passed away at the age of 68.
Zingg’s family issued a statement on social media on Thursday:
The Zingg family, his wife Katerina, his son Levon, and his brothers Peter and Chris are deeply saddened to tell you that earlier this week Drew Zingg passed away in San Francisco.
