I seem to remember Sergio Mendes & Brazil 66 covered quite a few Beatles numbers, They were often on the radio in my youth.

Lou Reed's "Walk On The Wild Side". That was Herbie.

David Bowie (Space Oddity, Diamond Dogs), Elton John (Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across the Water) They were Herbie too,.

There were many more too, like Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds.

Herbie also played the Tuba, and appeared on Camel's "Nude" playing it, as he did as a member of Sky..

He was the guy you heard a thousand times, and never knew it.

Herbie, damn!

I saw Sky back when they had a hit with 'Toccata' and was blown away by the ease with which he played and the immense humour and friendliness he radiated

His solo tuba piece 'Tuba Smarties' was a blast!

I saw Herbie once. back in the early seventies, while I was sitting in Island Records' reception, waiting to see Richard Williams (the bastard) their A&R man. He came flying through the front doors announcing "I'm Herbie. Quick, where's the little boys' room?" :lol:
