I saw Yes in September '72, on a bill with Lindisfarne, Capability Brown, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Gary Wright's Wonderwheel Yes were premiering "Close To The Edge," which was released just under a fortnight later. Alan hadn't been with them long, and believe it was Rick Wakeman's first gig with the band, which might account for the massive *bum* note he hit on the intro to their opening number; Siberian Khatru if memory serves.

I was very saddened to read of Alan White's passing, I have been a life long fan of YES, in fact Fragile was the 1st album I bought
RIP Alan

Just a note to Mr Slinger, it would not have been Mr Wakeman's first gig, I saw him play with YES at the Boston Glydadrome either late 71 or early 72, it was snowing very heavily that night, Bill Bruford was on drums.

Thanks for putting me straight. ;)

It was 29 January 1972. I've no idea how I got it into my head Rick's first gig with Yes was September that year..
