Oh no!

Nicky Tesco. One of the very first concerts I ever saw - The Members along with Eddie and the Hot Rods.

The memories ...

What a double blow. On Thursday last week, Rod Marsh (74) was taken ill and has just passed away. A short time later, at just 52 years of age, Shane Warne has gone too, from a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand today, Friday 4 March. He was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived.

It makes this all the more poignant

Warne OBIT
It is a sad day. Was saddened by the news of Rod Marsh this morning and gob smacked by the news about Shane Warne when I got home this afternoon. Saw him play against New Zealand in the 98 World Cup in Cardiff. Went to the 77 Ashes test at the Oval in 77, but the day was almost a total washout so I probably did not see Rodney Marsh in action.

R.I.P. both.

That is a shocker. Warne was putting himself forward for the English head coach job, just a few days ago

Very saddened to read we have lost two world class cricketers in such a short space of time.

He was one of those cricketers that even when he was bowling England out for next to no runs I didn't begrudge him, because of his one-off bowling brilliance and his zest and enthusiasm for the game and for life in general.

RIP Pete St. John, who died in the Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, on 12 March 2022, aged 90.

I learned this, his most famous song, from Paddy Reilly and was playing it in folk clubs long before my fellow LFC supporters got hold of it and made it one of their anthems.

Rest easy, Pete, and thank you.
