Composer Laurie Johnson, who provided some of Britain's best loved television themes and film music, has died at the age of 96.

Johnson's memorable themes include The Avengers, The Professionals, Animal Magic, and This is Your Life.

Toby Keith, the country star, has died of stomach cancer, aged 62. He was a bit too "right-wing" for my tastes, but one cannot deny he was a great entertainer.

Tago Mago, Ege Bamyası and Future Days were Damo Suzuki's triptych of Can albums that changed the face of German (and world) electronik/motorik/krautrock musik.
His influence spread much further than that though as Mark E Smith proved.
