I enjoyed Kendrick Lamar and Bob Vylan.

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott are always good for me.

Got Billie Eilish to watch.

Not caught up with much else...will have a look through iplayer.

Saw clips of Paul McCartney and Diana Ross, nothing else of much interest. Waiting for Download to appear on Sky Arts, the only festival I have ever attended. Never again after the mud bath in 2016.

I switched Diana Ross off on her second song after the third bum note. I have no time for any performer who is clearly past it. They all have more than enough money so call it a day when you're on top

Just watched the Blossom's Glastonbury set, it was a good set but left me thinking there's an opening for a decent barber in Stockport 😉

Good set (although I'm by no means familiar with their back catalogue, which is enormous because they've been producing studio albums since 1973). Great audience - obviously many knew them but there was a good spread of ages there - always nice to see.

They left the audience singing the last song which became the call for more.

It's Love Supreme three day jazz, soul and funk festival in East Sussex this weekend. If I was close I would be there in a shot. Sadly I can't be arsed travelling these days.

A first for me and somewhat out of the blue. We were on holiday this week in St Davids and visited the impressive cathedral. Whilst looking round we were entertained by an impromptu solo piano concerto. The sound was very impressive in the large stone enclosure, very unlike what I would imagine a typical concert hall would be like.

Now back home out of curiosity I found a Qobuz solo piano classical playlist to find out how this music would sound through the hifi. Although the room acoustics could not be more different and the music has gone through the recording process I was pleasantly surprised, on good recordings, by how close what I was playing was to the music I was hearing live a couple of days earlier. Variations in recording quality were very apparent with digital recordings wiping the floor with analogue where tape hiss was sometimes audible. This unplanned live listen has left me in no doubt about the transparency and dynamics of my system.

Saw Steve Hackett last night on the Foxtrot 50th anniversary tour. It was a very enjoyable evening. The first half was his solo material and the second half Foxtrot in full. Super's Ready was quite an experience with an extended guitar solo at the end. The encere was Firth of fith and Los endos.

This was the second night of a lengthy tour. If they are anywhere near you well worth going. Certainly the best way to experience classic era Genesis live at less than half the price of the actual band were charging when playing stadiums. IMO Genesis were never the same after Hackett left and became a pop group in the 80s.

Ohsees live in Cambridge.

I’ve been to a lot of gigs, thousands over the years.

This was a ‘top 3’ gig. Not as loud as Motörhead, but not far behind. I really need to buy some ear protectors…
