3 before bedtime tonight -
Camp funtime!

Denis Denis, what the?..... who is that blonde bombshell? wearing nothing but a swimsuit, under an off the shoulder jacket, on TOTP. One minute and fifty-seven seconds of jaw dropping joy. Gentleman prefer blondes, especially fake ones.

Down from the bedroom wall came Jimmy Greenhoff and Stoke City and up went Debbie.

I have been playing all my Blondie Lp's lately and watching as much online stuff as I can get my eyes on. Blimey they were good, so cool. (With the exception of Gary Valentine, who looks rather uncomfortable with a guitar and his legs for that matter). What made her so good was, she did very little on stage, just enough. Less is more and all that.

Denis was my intro. to them, followed by ' Picture this'. That took me to 'Parallel lines', which I wore out in Autumn 78. Ok the 1st album and Plastic Letters, to my mind both have better songs, but Parallel lines with all the hype and all the press and all the publicity, was such a massive influence on me in '78, it just has to be 3 from it.

1 - Picture This - A brilliant pop song, iconic picture cover and yellow vinyl too. School boys dream.

2 - Pretty Baby - A neon nebula of a song.

3 - One way or another - gonna getcha getcha getcha. Was there some story she hitched a lift with Ted Bundy and escaped?

Nighty night.

I remember buying this when it came out, and I've still got it tucked away somewhere.

This was my 'guilty pleasure' Blondie track, back in the day...

...North Weald tube station booking office had a poster of DH on the back wall. The lads used to take it in turns to go and ask the ticket clerk several questions.

3 before bedtime tonight.
A nod is as good as a wink.

1. Richie Sacremento - Mogwai. Relatively new release from this year. Favourite song by far, so far. A nod to one of their mates and of course the famous Japanese composer, actor and collaberator, Richie Sacremento.

2. Ghosts - Japan.
Collaboration with Richie Sacremento.
The OGWT version is note perfect, atmospheric and eerie. Nearly 40 years old! Get away! With of course the excellent Fretless on base. I mean the excellent Mick Khan on fretless base. Although he doesn't figure much on Ghosts.

3. Forbidden Colours - Sylvian & Sacremento.

Beautiful!

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. 😉

3 before bedtime tonight.
My Obsessions.

I have obsessions of all types, some musical, others not. Sporadic and for no reason I can fathom. March was all things Blondie; April, everything Japan (That Mick Khan bass gets better and better) And so far during May, it has been my fallback guy, Mr Bowie. Not all things Bowie, just one album in particular -

Young Americans.

Labelled by many as 'Plastic Soul', and a 70's romp around the dance floor. But to me it is anything other than plastic! More hard core 'pornfull' Soul, full of writhing emotive bodily soul, Cocaine fuelled orgasmic sex-fest soul. Hard-on soul. Fuck yea! John Travolta looks in comparison, like a 2nd hand motor dealer. You get the picture?

1 - Fascination - Music by Luther Vandross. Did Bowie fit the rest of the album around this song?

2. Right - Bowie fades into the background, letting the ladies show their quality.

3. Somebody up there likes me. - The best sax sex you can buy.

Nighty night.

Agreed Arlo!
Ritchie Sacramento and Dry Fantasy -great tracks.
Japan and Mick Kahn - great listening.
Once saw Japan back in the day supporting Blue Oyster Cult - seemed a bit odd at the time, but nevertheless great night out!

Also a great cover of Across the Universe, better than the original IMO with Lennon playing on it. The three tracks listed are not my favourites. Prefer Win and Can you hear me.

Always a tricky job picking Bowie tracks for me. I agree with Across the Universe too, better than the original (Used before by me in one of my bedtime blurblings) - Cheers!
