Got a couple of albums from my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary

Donald Byrd - Places and spaces (Bluenote). Absolutely adore this even though it's on CD. Funky, tuneful with some wonderful playing that has been giving me the tingles even when played through the bluray player and TV.

The Blackbyrds - City life / Unfinished business. Funky ofc. I don't quite like it as much as the Donald Byrd but almost. Doin' it in the park, doin' it after dark  oh yeah.

I don't really bother looking for music in charity shops anymore. Gone are the days of a bargain and the bins are full of Max Bygraves. Leo Sayer and Cliff Richard.

Some of the prices in the second hand record shop were taking the piss I thought and some of the grading a little on the optimistic side. Luckily I didn't come across any Genesis

I know what my next purchases are going to be.

Nucleus - Jazz rock with a hint of funk. I will probably hoover up their output from the 70's

I am going through something of a vinyl harvesting phase buying between 10 & 15 albums a month. As with any harvest I am hoping for more wheat than chaff. By and large the jazz LPs I have bought are sonically good but I do need to get the stuff I don't like on eBay because I am running out of vinyl storage space. As for charity shops, on the odd times I go in I usually find a classical album or two.

Usually I can find a lot of LP's at reasonable prices on Discogs, quality can be variable though. Some sellers are very friendly and will do deals and discounts if you buy regularly from them.

Amazon is turning out to be quite good for cut-price new vinyl. Just got Tears For Fears 'The Hurting' for 11 euro (no extra postage). My recent hunt for 4AD releases got me a lot for about 15 euro each (ex P&P) from a selection of record shops.

Charity shops are plucked clean by collectors here. But there is 2nd-hand vinyl to be found in unexpected places (vintage and bric-a-brac shops).
