A guy goes on holiday to the remote Pacific island of Prog. When he steps off the plane he can hear drums playing in the background. He says to the steward "what are the drums for?". The steward just says "when drums stop, very very bad".

He goes his hotel, where he can still hear the drums. He says to the receptionist "what are the drums for?". The receptionist just says "when drums stop, very very bad".

He tries to sleep that night, but can still hear the drums. After a couple of sleepless hours, he goes down to reception to complain. He says to the receptionist "what are the drums for?". The receptionist just says "when drums stop, very very bad".

The guy says "Why, what happens when the drums stop?"

The receptionist says "When drums stop, Rick Wakeman organ solo starts!"

I need to be more specific so I don't sound like a dick.
I don't care about labels and categories. I just like what I like.
If others want to sort and label, more power to them.

The arguments about what is and isn't prog are boring, interminable and perpetrated by self-righteous idiots with nothing better to do.

I know - I used to be one.

Rick Wakeman is a lovely chap, one of life's better people but I would rather go to the dentist than listen to his music or hear him drone on about his era.

I saw a concert of his back in the early 80's where he tried to do the same thing with a portable Korg keyboard that stopped working halfway.
