Craving shared experiences at the edges of obscurity is a necessarily exhaustive (and exhausting) pursuit. Even audiofools are worth a try.

We'd all be happy to find a friend, even (especially) if we need to suggest otherwise.

One day I shall make it compulsory for you all to compose your posts purely from song lyrics written by Nigel Blackwell, Penny Rimbaud and David Gedge.

Me used to be angry young man
Me hiding me head in the sand
You gave me the word, I finally heard
I'm doing the best that I can

Most of what was labelled hair metal was not metal at all. Lemmy was not happy about Motorhead being classed as metal, saying punk was more appropriate.
Of course I remember the Ian Anderson story you mention, but I don't remember it being called 'prog', I remember going into record shops, and going straight to the LP's under the PROGRESSIVE banner

I think Ian Anderson finds labels rather amusing. On a live album he makes reference to Tull being labelled a blues band in their early days. He consided Thick as a brick to be worthy of a tongue in cheek sequel forty years on. It will be the fiftieth anniversary next year, we shall see.

Thanks for reminding me next year will be the 50th anniversary of Thick as a Brick CN, just to make me feel a little older. That tour was the first time I saw JT, it was at the Sheffield City Hall, went with friends on the train, and my mum worrying about me, I was lucky she let me go, now I've seen them more than 60 times. I can remember years ago thinking, 'what will I do when they pack up' now my feelings have changed and think it is time for IA to pack up, the last time I saw them it, his voice had gone and he's now 'To Old to Rock n Roll', the same can be said for my other heroes YES. For any one interested I first saw them at the Boston Glyderdrome
