Your local

I have quite a few record shops locally and can be spoilt for choice- I buy used unless it’s a new album first release or the original is too expensive. I’m not a remastered fan nor heavy weight vinyl but sometimes you have no choice.
Spinning discs in Sheffield are well stocked and good prices- within that area are a few smaller emporiums with high standards.
I like to get a record from a shop when on holiday or visiting. Charity shop finds are rare now unless you like cliff Richard or marching bands.

is a new shop to me I haven’t been to yet- seems well stocked but pricey- a new year visit is on the cards

has a great latte n cake- records (lot of rock) and used equipment- recommended
Could we start a list of record shops and reviews
Would this be useful?

Interesting local vinyl outlet with used audio equipment of all ages but predominantly vintage Japanese- the good stuff is not on show- kept hidden in locked cupboards.
The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and good for a chat- there are some interesting speakers most specifically at the moment are a set of Goodmans 880s that need a little bit of work but still impressive.
Vinyl selection is varied- not too expensive but not bargain bucket either.
Good for a couple of hours browsing but no coffee tea nor cakes
Card, cash & paypal accepted

Looks good Peter but a bit of a trek for me.

Somebody should start a music selling boozer. But maybe there would be an issue with the stock getting trashed and fights with drunks hitting each other Ivor the head with LP12's and throwing BBC speakers through windows.

In a Linn pub, everyone would be checking the legs on their chairs every few minutes.

In an Audio Note pub, everyone would sit in the corners.

Popped in between Xmas n new year, bought a couple of albums in the 30% sale on line.
Large shop with lots of space to browse.
Categories and artists clearly labelled
Stock is mainly New and plentiful
Prices are consistent with other shops I visit.
Selection is good for those hard to find artists
Big 7” single section
Easy browsing
No coffee no cake 😱

Has a great used album selection- most popular artists of 60s - current. Used prices are really good- most records have been cleaned and the album covers are in good to great condition. As I’ve said prices are good but if I do find an excellent condition rare first issue you will pay for what it is worth. This would be my fav shop for used records.
There is a new section, again most popular artists stocked as compared to the alternatives in Bear Tree,
Also a “hi quality” vinyl pressings section that I never look at cos I can’t afford them😂
Minimal 7”
Used cds
No coffee or cake
Moorgate Acoustics upstairs if u like shinny things - usually have a good used section

This is, in my opinion, a unique venue for record sales.
Above a music shop- drums, guitar, keyboards amps etc etc
There is a stage, bar and toilets in the record sales area
Good used selection, good prices- it’s a dig deep and you never know what you are gonna get- 70s onwards well represented. The Quality of sleeves and record vary but u won’t pay over the odds.
There is a DD turntable present for demo.
Well labelled genres with plenty of options for all music fans except classic/ opera etc
Growing new release selection with local artists supported
Large 7” selection too
Another fav shop well worth a visit when I’m in Sheffield

I called into Huddersfield's Vinyl Tap a couple of days ago (not to buy, I'm a courier and was collecting an overseas shipment).

Looks like they had a lot of choice though as I'm now vinyl free I didn't stop to browse. If I'd had more time I'd have had a look through the bargain CD's, maybe next time.

Didn't there used to be a Bradley's Records there?

Huddersfield had loads of record shops back in the 80's.
