'MIKE OLDFIELD'...Forever!...

It is no surprise to anyone that one of the most legendary albums of all time, Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' (1973) turns five decades old this year, and it should be celebrated as it deserves.

For this reason, Mike was since 2017, immediately after the release of his latest album 'Return To Ommadawn', recording what was scheduled for its release this year, as 'Tubular Bells 4', closing this saga as the final piece.

Unfortunately, this will no longer happen. At the launch of the special deluxe edition of the 50th anniversary of Tubular Bells that will go on sale on May 26, there will be an 8-minute demo of the introduction of what was to be 'Tubular Bells 4' recorded in 2017. Mike would have left the project and that would be his last piece of his career, the one that would have come to an end.

The press release published a few days ago reads: "Mike Oldfield retired from music in 2018, after stopping touring many years before that. In the months after his last album, Return To Ommadawn, in 2017, Oldfield began the idea of composing a fourth and final installment of Tubular Bells, in time for its 50th anniversary.Work began in earnest, and Mike felt he had finally cracked the secret of successfully working again on an opening tune. memorable. We got a wonderful eight minute demo sample here at A&R. And after that, nothing. Mike decided not to continue. Five years later, this last paragraph of the Tubular Bells story is being released as part of the 50th anniversary celebration "

In addition to that, today a show of musicians, dancers and performing arts called "Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells: Live in Concert" is touring in the UK who reinterpret this impressive work, but unfortunately, without Oldfield.
