Holidays somewhere warm is for times when it is cold here, I find first two weeks of December to be good and best price, and you get away from Christmas bollocks, Caribbean mostly, Cuba for the sea sand sun and music and RUM, my fav Santiago de Cuba Rum. It is the only time I drink when on holiday.

Agree about going somewhere warm, or warmer, when it is cold here with the short dark days. Can be very depressing. Had long stays in Malta during the last two winters. Summer is time for UK holidays. Will be an exception this year as we have a fijords cruise coming up.

The fijords cruise I mentioned above was a bit of a disaster. Amsterdam was the first port of call and the ship was damaged on the way out making a very tight manouver. I think it was the rudder. We had to turn back on the way to Norway and spend a few days in IJmuiden while bus transport home was being arranged. All the pasangers will be compensated in full with a free cruise as well. Hoping for better luck in a years time.

Ijmuiden isn't exactly a holiday resort - did you get to see anything of Holland?

I'd like to do that Norway cruise sometime - looks like a beautiful country.

Ijmuiden is far from a resort  We took a walk around the lake and to a deserted beach. On the Sunday we got buses into Amsterdam but did not do much as it was so hot. Saw a lot more of Amsterdam on the earlier scheduled stop. First time I have been their for nearly twenty years and it has not changed much. A lot more weed about and you can even get it in ice cream.

Albania looks interesting - it was a 'closed' hard-line Communist country until quite recent times.

Have a good trip, Hannes. 8-)
