Garage rebuild

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

I have a falling down single garage, now with no doors as they fell off, with asbestos roof, it needs to come down and be replaced. This time with a room above it, a stairway up, and sink toilet etc. Flat roof and non brick would do it but open to suggestions. The garage is single but its footprint / concrete float extends to back and side.

Any pro builders here to give advice or recommend a company to do it, Sidcup area. I would use garage space as storage and upstairs as office / workshop.

Obviously I am not a builder, but do you really have to have a flat roof?
I hope technology has moved on as from my previous experience in the trade (20 years ago) they were always a nightmare.

I'd agree with that, if only for looks alone, a nice pitched, tiled roof. Nice as long as it fits with regs it gets you more space too....

The fibreglass/resin flat roofs are decent if done properly. Not the cheapest though....

Although I'd understand if you didn't want to post pics of your garage, to maintain privacy.

Garage is a falling down hovel with an asbestos roof full of holes, built of thinnish white concrete slabs, but large thick concrete float that stretches back to the house, back under a just as bad shed behind it and out to the side. So decent size footprint. The door (bloody great up and over steel one) fell off last summer so just a car port now. Gave it to the local bell ringers, they had fun putting it on their flat bed.

Google shows it. This is before the door fell off and we still had the Jeep https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4283738 ... 384!8i8192
