I had a phone call from someone saying they were from Sky and could improve the connection. They sounded very convincing and I was taken in for a while and started following instructions on my PC. What they wanted me to do seemed strange and I got suspicious, more so when I was not getting very far (my computer glasses needing repair) and they were getting annoyed. I suggested they were not Sky and the call ended. Had we not been having problems I would have twigged sooner. Be warned.
I've had that call a couple of times too and when I questioned what the problem was they just hung up the phone.

I feel quite left out. The only one to get past my call blocker lately was ringing to extend the warranty on my washing machine. Great little tip, if you get the call just ask them "which one?" and listen to them flounder.

Follow-ups can be "Which one in the kitchen?" or Neither of them is in the kitchen," and my personal favourite, "Do you mean the Russian one or the Chinese one?"

On reflection I suspect they thought I was deliberately wasting their time. Computer ignorance can be bliss, especially with difficulty seeing small icons on the screen and key board.

They don't give up. Had the same call from the same person and gave her short shift.

It makes me wonder if Sky's IT system has been hacked and contact details, specifically concerning customers with Internet problems, have been leaked.

Oh the irony if that was the case.

Recorded messages from "BT" are doing the rounds again. My 96-year-old mum got two of them, one after the other at bloody ten O'clock last night. :angry-fire:

I've seen that one, unfortunately for the scammer, I know when my TV Licence expires.

I've had a fake but very realistic looking email from Amazon stating that they've taken payment twice for an item I'd bought and could I just confirm my bank details to enable a refund!
