Closer to home...

...if a potential NVA customer, who is based in the EU, decides they want to try NVA. Firstly, they will pay VAT on arrival (the rate applied in their own country) even though NVA is not yet VAT registered. Secondly, if they decide not to keep the system then they will not be able to reclaim the VAT they have paid. On a 'mid-range' system - P5 / S150 / SSC / LS5 - VAT would be around £330. And, there are customs handling fees on top. Pretty much knackers our 30 day home trial model for EU customers. Very, very few customers return once they try, but the above is obviously going to deter people from trying.

Can you not co-register an NVA EU branch with Tomasz in Poland?

We manufacture in the UK and 90% of sales go to the UK. We can't currently justify the costs of setting up a duplicate manufacturing facility in Poland. Unless, it's just a 'paper exercise'. No-one seems to know what is possible, at the moment, though. Not least because the government has not yet issued detailed advice.

Maybe just registering an EU citizen as supply / return address would be enough.

The rules are as clear as mud at the moment. A lot of Dutch export and shipping firms are completely baffled by UK customs terms - or the lack of them.

Our tax accountant says that nobody knows until government advice is issued. Maybe in February.

Just as an example of how bad this is the Royal Mail will not accept any parcels from EU until they have a full UK Gov guideline on what is the current rules. This is 09 / 01 / 2021 the agreement has been in place since before the new year yet the UK Gov has not got its finger out and explained what the rules are .

This is bad enough but the UK Gov has spent over £250,000 on UK TV adverts telling companies to make sure they are registered and have things in place when they had no agreement and no rules for those companies to follow . We pay for this and they knew it was nonsense yet they still showed it and are still showing and paying for it to be broadcast yet they have still not set out or published their own rules . Please stop voting for the Eton / Winchester/Oxford / Cambridge MP's (ie 98.8% of MP's) they are clueless and have no contact with normal living . We need to try something else.
