Have just got my hands on a 1960/70 non working radiogram via gumtree. My intentions are to strip it out install my ap30, cd player and cubetts. unfortunately I don't think my lp12 would be happy in its constraints? This would make it possible to have music back in the main living space as apposed to a spare bedroom upstairs. ;)

Sorry for late reply, went to see and pay for it local in sellers garage (distance and rules observed) soon realized it wouldn't fit in the my boot of my car. Seller happy to leave it there until my son can pick it up in his work van this weekend. Hope to post some pics then.

I do realize that this is a direct rip off of what you intend. Just got me thinking that it maybe the way to get some decent music back into our living room. Wife fed up with cables, boxes, speakers and shelves that you cant put "things" on. Only need the "carcase" which might save me a lot of diy. for not much money ;)

I don't mind anyone using my ideas but I doubt I am the first to have done it. I hate looking at boxes in racks with wires every where. Also with most of my system being diy I would also have to build enclosures - I thought why not have the furniture as the enclosure (double insulated) with everything hard wired together where possible and the very shortest wiring between each stage. Only the CD head unit and turntable visible on top of it and everything else hidden including wiring (except one mains cable and speaker cables.)

I love the styling of some of those 60z's and 70's radiograph. It will be wide and not very tall then ? With speakers at either end or separate speakers ?

As far as the LP12 goes, if you have speakers attached you might get some feedback. LP12's sound better without the lid on so if you do build it into it then as long as the lid can go up when playing and the top of the deck is at the same height as the top of the radiogram then you should be fine.

I'm dead jealous you have what I think you have :epopc:
