Just Because...

Unread post by slinger »

...there was nowhere else to put it, but I wanted to post it anyway.

I came across this photo on Twatter and thought it was too good not to share somewhere. It looks like a C130 "Herky Bird" releasing flares and is just a great photo.

Image

I've actually found video of the flare pattern now, but the instant captured by the sill image is far more dramatic.

[EDIT] Although the AC-130s have the same "Angel Flight" spread pattern the aircraft in the still image actually appears to be a Russian Ilyushin Il-76.
Thought I'd better correct that one before Geoff jumped all over me.

Sorry to disappoint you but the top photograph isn't a C130 the T tail is one sure indicator as is the fact that the engines are mounted below the wings on pylons. I think it is an IL76. The video is a C130 and comparing the two images should be sufficient to confirm that they are of different aircraft types.

Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness, the Dalai Lama & his good mate Archbishop Desmond Mpilo Tutu. Two blokes whose religions probably couldn't be more different show the rest of us that that doesn't matter a toss, and people and friendships are what counts. I think the footage in this tweet is both beautiful, and magical.

Just imagine, there are probably extremists who actually hate what this little video teaches if we allow it to.
