I am pro emissions reduction for more reasons than just global warming. Also I believe that capitalism and a healthy planet are not compatible.
I agree it’s emotive and I certainly don’t wish to get into that area - but the data is there and in large quantities.

Current greedy capitalism can’t be the future for sure. It needs re-inventing…….

It is brainwashing which has gathered momentum in the past two decades. I only respect the opinions of experts who take a balanced view and do not flow with the tide. As has been previously posted it was not so long ago that we were being told another ice age was on its way.

I will be leaving my amps and DACs on stand by tonight.

Steve Koonan would disagree with your conclusions after looking at the exact same data. Before you start parroting the usual ad-hominem rubbish, dig a little deeper into the data not the man.

Graphs and presented data in these studies aren't easily interpreted by non-scientists (or most scientists either), so we are being asked to trust, not the data, but their interpretation of this data. Unfortunately, the quality of this interpretation has become so poor that of late, most papers in the field of climate change, nutrition research and clinical research has taken such a dive in the past decade or so, that i view the conclusions of well over half of what i read each morning on phys.org (and similar) each morning with nothing but contempt. Only the field of materials science seems immune to the sheer BS being generated by so-called researchers.

As for where we should be concentrating our efforts, well, pollution, especially that of plastics in our environment is undisputed. Why are we still accepting single use plastics of any form? Monocrops... another thorny issue. We are being diverted from real pressing crisis by people with an agenda.

Totaly agree with your views CN & RX. Wise words spoken. Obliquity, precession and the pull on the earth, between Jupiter and Sun will determime our future in the longterm. In the meantime, Global Warming, could well be a narrative, to further the financial interests of the global elite. I dont know much on the subject, more research needed.

A meteoir or comet impact could also determine our future in the long term and this is something we can prevent. There was an explosion over Siberia little more than a hundred years ago which would have obliterated a major city and this was a small object compared to what has happened in the past. Evidence is emerging that there was a major impact around twelve thousand years ago which would have ended our civilisation.

The last 3 posts sum up exactly why we are in the situation we are in. AD HOMINEM REMOVED

I guess it’s going to take a generational change but it will probably be too late by then.

*I* fear that we will have buried our, now ill, children in a sea of microscopic waste plastic particles. All because we focused on what we can't change, at the expense of what we could.

Don’t worry, debate is healthy and it’s a really important topic. However you are probably right about people not going to agree so I shall refrain from posting on this topic again - it’s kind of pointless unfortunately
