Fewer deaths in 2020 than in 36 of the preceding 50 years

The Cabinet Office is now saying that due to the Met investigating "Partygate" the Sue Gray report needs to be suspended "indefinitely" so as not to interfere with the Met's work.

The Met are saying that the Sue Gray report in no way impedes their investigation, and they're fine with it being published.

I wonder if they'll sort it out before Johnson & Truss manage to initiate World War 3 in Ukraine and Trump Johnson grants himself emergency powers, which include no challenges to his leadership while we are on a "war footing".

I know it's an outside chance, but I wouldn't bet against plastic surgery to make himself look like Churchill (his hero, and fellow racist and mass murderer) too.

Rees-Mogg is, I believe, already attempting to ramp up production of lead musket-balls, and cast iron and bronze, for our canons.

Are they serious ?????

"It was not a premeditated, organised party in that sense, that the PM himself decided to have.

"As far as I can see he was, in a sense, ambushed with a cake.

"I don’t think most people at home would characterise that as a party."

The Birthday story currently being floated is that it was a "surprise"non-party, organised by Carrie Antoinette, about which Johnson knew nothing.

150,000+ and rising. Compares unfavourably with other countries with serious leaders who acted sooner. These are the figures which matter. Johnson could face mass manslaughter accusations and charges following the inquiry.

Are all countries using exactly the same counting methods?

EG the figures appear to be: anyone dying within 28 days of a positive covid test is added to the UK figures.

Plus the UK is in many regions a relatively densely populated country with the sort of climate that keeps people indoors.

150,000 within 28 days of a positive test, there is nothing to suggest that all, or any, of them were as a direct result of the positive test, there is a clear implication of a link but that doesn’t mean that such a direct link exists. Test positive on 1st and get run over by a bus on 27th you are counted. However with zero excess deaths, excess being those in excess of the expected numbers, and if there are fewer deaths than expected there can be no excess, it is difficult to substantiate the claim of “tens of thousands of excess deaths”.

The hospital admissions figures are also based on admission within 28 days of a positive test even though the actual admission may have been totally unrelated to the test. For example, test positive on 1st of the month and go into hospital for a broken leg on the 27th and you are counted.

Neither set of figures strikes me as honest accounting. You will remember that Boris announced the 150,000 figure in September 2021 but the BBC carried a report of “150,000 deaths within 28 days of a positive test” early in January 2022 so obviously some revision of the data has occurred.

I don’t support Boris but I am strongly in favour of honest data.
